Snr Ultrapure Water Design Engineer
We are seeking a
highly skilled and motivated Senior UPW Engineer to be part of the Facilities
Design and Engineering Team to lead the design effort in the construction of
the FAB. This position requires a thorough understanding of semiconductor
Facilities Engineering and Operations in support of a 365/24/7 manufacturing
facility. Further, demonstrated experience in the design and construction
of a UPW system meeting the current ITRS specifications. The successful
candidate for this position will have direct experience in developing the
Utility Matrix, BOD, Scope and RFQ of the Ultrapure
water system. This individual will work closely with EHS, equipment OEMs,
Site Facilities and Procurement in developing the design of a safe,
cost-effective system that meets stringent manufacturing water quality
requirements for a state of the art facility.
The successful
individual will lead their team to drive operational excellence to world class
levels, improve performance metrics, and deliver new facilities systems to meet
construction milestones critical to enable our Manufacturing Technology
Roadmap. The individual will report to the Facilities Design and Engineering
Manager and will be located in Saratoga New York. This position will
require experience in overall planning, coordination, and control of a project
from inception to completion aimed at meeting the project requirements in order
to produce functionally and financially viable results.
Specific
Responsibilities
·Good knowledge process
tool requirements - utilization, diversity to build utility matrix.
·Ensure sufficient space
for equipment based on the utility matrix and resulting required process
equipment.
·Use BKMs to qualitatively
identify required systems with future expansion in mind – plug and play.
·Lead design review to
achieve milestones i.e. 30, 60, 90 and IFC drawing are reviewed for
safety/function and modified as necessary.
·Excellent comprehension
of analytical instrumentation and controls.
·Ability to perform
system sizing i.e. resin, RO, MF, UF etc... verify OEM
offering.
·Excellent knowledge of
MOC’s and how to cost effectively use them within the system, PVDF, PFA, EPDM
etc.
·Review, develop P&IDs
ensure equipment, MOC etc. in the specifications
or equivalent are included in the design.
·Effective design of
normal and CPS electrical supply to critical equipment, N+1 methodology.
·Ensure the RFQ provides
a comprehensive description of the system to ensure Change Orders are
minimized.
·Ensure completed design
is comprehensive and minimizes the opportunity for Change Orders.
·Sound recycling,
reclaim and re-use within the design to drive low cost of Ownership ($/gal).
·Knowledge of Reverse
Return UPW distribution hydraulic design.
·Ability to preposition
while ensuring system can cost effectively meet required process requirements.
·Develop Specifications
specific to Manufacturing requirements which will accompany RFQ.
·Ensure EHS are integral
part of the design discussions.
·Prepare budgets and
schedules, monitor to ensure design milestones are met.
·Prepare project reports
and documentation; communicate with Facilities Engineering and GLOBALFOUNDRIES
management.
·Perform submittal and
RFI reviews.
·Identify and monitor
critical path and long lead items.
·Ensure OEM Utilizes
GLOBALFOUNDRIES procurement agreements where MOC or other pricing has been
negotiated.
·Review both System
Performance and Equipment warranties are beneficial based on the expected life
of the equipment.
Required Qualifications
·B.S. Degree in Chemical
Engineering or other related field or equivalent experience.
·Experience with Ultrapure
Water processes, specification and products.
·Demonstrated knowledge of
construction standards, practices, techniques, and technology.
·Strong analytical skills
·Minimum 10 years of large
project and construction experience with strong results in meeting process
requirements, deadlines and cost requirements
·Demonstrated OEM
negotiation experience in a new construction environment.
·Excellent communication
skills; ability to work well with external vendors to drive results; ability to
communicate within multiple levels in an organization

·Master’s Degree
·PE Registration
·15 years of large project
and construction experience with strong results in process requirements meeting
deadlines and cost requirements
·300mm FAB New
construction experiences a plus.
·Ability and willingness
to learn/grow into technical areas beyond current education and area of
expertise/experience
