GaN Sr. Process engineer

 

Must meet ITAR restrictions, US Citizen, Green Card holder, as there are A LOT of government contracts within this particular line of work. 

 

Summary of Role, Operates MOCVD growth reactor(s) to produce GaN epitaxial wafers that conform to specifications.  Plays an active role in transferring processes from R&D into mainstream production.  Possesses strong process engineering “sense” and ability to back it up with statistical analysis.  Responsible for maintaining the MOCVD processes in a manner that optimizes production yield, product quality and up-time.  Contributes to employment of best practices in terms of systematic approaches to tangible metrics.  Drives qualification activities and data correlation studies.  Proposes and drives continuous improvement activities internally and externally.  Participates in multi-disciplinary teams in support of research or manufacturing/process related projects.

Flexibility to run processes on multiple reactor platforms for III-V materials

Lead process transfers and scale-up from R&D to production

Review customer data for performance correlation analysis

Lead new reactor, new source and new substrate qualifications

Install, qualify, and integrate new equipment into production processes

Review product/customer specifications for accuracy and manufacturing feasibility

Create or modify reactor recipes for calibration and production

Review and interpret characterization data

Monitor statistical process control charts

Track status of critical reactor parameters and source levels

Schedule maintenance and participate in system troubleshooting

Review and disposition production lot records

Create internal and customer quality control data packages

Conduct failure analyses and prepare corrective action recommendations

Track system manufacturing metrics including yield and tool utilization reports

Create and refine documentation for procedures and processes

Aid in quality control by running GRR studies and setting control standards

Run DOEs for process improvement

Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures

Ability to clearly communicate results of core job responsibilities with support of relevant data and/or documentation

Other Functions

Equipment and/or Machines to be used by Employee:

MOCVD reactor

Metrology equipment for epitaxy (defect mapping, XRD, Photoluminescence, etc)

Productivity metrics such as yield, up time & quality

Qualifications/Experience

5+ years in MOCVD growth or research.

Productivity improvement yield, up time & quality.

Familiarity with large data sets and SQL querying (We use a Microsoft SQL database), SPC techniques, FMEA, DOE.

Cleanroom experience and familiarity with semiconductor device fabrication.

Experience supporting and interacting with remote manufacturing sites.

Manufacturing or Process Engineering experience.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  Familiarity with JMP or similar statistical package is a plus.

Organized, self-motivated, and energetic.

Education, BS in Engineering, Physics, or other relevant discipline.
