JOB SUMMARY-This position will provide support for all aspects of production in the EPI area. The position requires a solid understanding of the principals involved in semiconductor wafer processing and a good working level knowledge of the equipment used in thin film deposition as well as the characterization equipment used to monitor this process. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the existing EPI product, and conducting investigations into low yield and EPI process-related problems. The position requires the initiation and implementation of process and product changes that support yield improvement, quality improvement, new process introductions and cost reductions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Improve process capability/defect reduction/throughput improvement for high volume manufacturing using statistical tools,
DOE techniques, data driven decision making and systematic problem solving skills.
2. Identify and execute projects for EPI performance improvement.
3. Support new EPI product development and production, specifically overseas foundry.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with other Process Engineers and staff to support EPI production operation on a daily basis. This involves maintaining shop instructions, trouble-shooting production equipment, reporting of key area performance indices, and training key operators.
Identify and evaluate new process technologies to increase the efficiency and organization of the EPI area.
Responsible for clear communication of priorities, project status and results/reports to the staff.
Assist in product and process improvement engineering studies by evaluating process control wafers and process characterizations as needed. Assessment and disposition of Maverick product in the area, and performance of root cause analysis of low yield EPI product/EPI process problems.
Evaluations of processes and material changes that will reduce cost and improve yield/throughput. Work with Maintenance to improve equipment up-time. Work with Operations to reduce cycle time
Provide support for all EPI-related Documentation:
Shop instructions and OCAPs (revisions if necessary)
Process travelers – (for New Products).
