Sr. Human Resources Generalist 


POSITION SUMMARY - Provides assistance and support to the Director of Human Resources on all human resources related matters, as well as guides and serves all employees within the organization.  Responsibilities involve benefit administration, HRIS, new hire orientations, employee relations, etc. This position is the main point of contact for general HR related issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Talent Acquisition

•Responsible for the recruitment of hourly/non-exempt and temporary employees through various channels, including but not limited to job postings, job fairs, working with various external government agencies, as well as, recruitment agencies.  Occasional exempt employee recruitment as needed;

•Conducts all pre-employment activities, including application tracking, screening interviews, pre-employment tests, reference checks, background checks, etc.;

Onboarding

•Serves a critical role in the orientation, onboarding, and retention of new hires;

•Conducts new employee orientations;

•Handles all administrative tasks related to the onboarding success of a new hire;  

•Provides, compiles, tracks and files all new-hire information, including verification of I-9 requirements;

•Coordinates with various departments and new employee’s manager to ensure the new hire has all the tools needed to start and be successful at their new job;

•Schedules and follows up with new employees’ managers to ensure new hire receives 30/60/90 day reviews timely;

•Coordinates a 6-month HR follow-up with new hires and communicates back to HR Director on a timely basis;

•Assists with the inclusion, retention and engagement of all new hires;

Benefits and Worker’s Compensation

•Responsible for employee benefit administration including medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life Insurance, 401(k) and any additional employee perks as provided;

•Communicates and coordinates new ACA requirements as needed; 

•Administers Worker’s Compensation reporting and claims;

•Serves as main contact between health brokers, insurance companies and employees on the day-to-day operations;

•Assists during annual Open Enrollment process;

• Reconciles all monthly insurance statements;

•Participates in company’s Safety Committee; 

Employee Relations

•Coaches management on appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, including but not limited to disciplinary action processes, LOA’s, terminations, etc.;

•Becomes very knowledgeable and responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs;

•Oversights consistency and adherence to the attendance and performance policies;

•Provides accurate reporting tools for management;

•Monitors the Performance Review process and revises as necessary;

•Develops and coordinates consistent employee recognition activities;

Compliance

•Maintains updated employee information, including well-structured employee files;

•Assists with labor law compliance within the company, maintaining accurate records to ensure all federal and applicable state regulations are fulfilled;

•Maintains Human Resource Information System records updated and compiles reports from database as needed;

•Files EEO-1 and VETS information annually;

•Updates information in Handbook to reflect legally compliant HR practices as needed;

Wellness and Special Events

•Develops and administers wellness initiatives;

•Coordinates any human resources related special events;

HR General

•Assists Director of Human Resources carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all employees as needed;

•Participates in developing and implementing departmental goals, objectives and systems;

•Implements and administers HRIS;

Off-boarding

•Executes on all HR related tasks upon separation of employment, including Exit Interviews of hourly/non-exempt employees.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, related field or equivalent experience;

•Five to seven years of experience in Human Resources (preferably in a Manufacturing environment);

•PHR of SHRM–CP Certification a plus;

•Proven experience with HRIS (Ceridian preferred);

•Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point);

•Good understanding of IL and Federal Employment laws;

The ideal candidate would bring the years of Education and Experience required, as well as a very fun, positive and enthusiastic personality that can get focused and is not bothered by the details of the daily HR routine. We need someone who is willing to take direction, be patient, but also feels assertive at recommending best practices. A hard worker with a very approachable personality. We are solidifying our HR department and this person will become a critical key to our success.

Ideal Candidate should have worked for the following company(ies): HR in a Manufacturing, F&B and/or Hospitality environment preferred, but not required.
