Medical Technologist - $3000.00 sign on bonus-Iowa

Varied days, including weekend coverage, 2nd shift, 80 hours per
two-week pay period
Purpose: Perform moderate and high complexity testing in some or
all areas of the Laboratory, including Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology,
Serology, and Blood Bank. Medical Technologists key responsibilities
include proper patient and specimen identification, adherence to testing
policies and procedures, instrument use and troubleshooting, and computer
functions. Medical Technolgists work closely
with Phlebotomists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Nursing and Physicians to
provide patient care. Meets qualifications for testing personnel performing
high complexity testing as specified in C.L.I.A. Subpart M. Sec. 493.1491
Supervisory Responsibility: Guidance: The job requires the
provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have
formal or official supervisory responsibilities.
Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited
responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could
include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar
material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these
resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste
or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not
complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in
dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field Of Study: Chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
or medical technology
Licensure/Registration: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or
categorical/specialist certification in a laboratory discipline from ASCP or
certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from HEW or AMT or completion of a
Military training course as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. Certification [MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(HEW)] preferred
within one year of employment.
Experience: Less than 1 year experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people
inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty
and sensitivity. Contact with others may involve detailed & lengthy
dialogues & exchanges of information. Requires a moderate amount of
interpersonal skills. Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated
problem situations or stressful encounters.
Working Conditions: There is exposure to moderately adverse and
undesirable environmental conditions. There are some health and safety
risks. Position may require safety equipment and precautions. The amount
of time the employee may experience these moderate conditions exceeds 70% of
their work day.
