Principal Engineer - Power Electronics
As the Principal Engineer -
Power Electronics at our company's Electronic Solutions, you will provide
technical expertise in power electronics, magnetics, motor controls, machines, EMI, EMC, and systems applications.
In addition, you will:
•Provide leadership and
strategic direction on design architectures, design practices, reliability, simulation, modeling and detailed design analysis for power
electronics circuits.
•Provide input on
cross-functional design decisions such as vibration, heat transfer, material
properties, insulating materials, bus work design, high power conductors and
connectors.
•Design, modify and evaluate
electronic products for use in rugged environments to meet quality, delivery
and cost goals.
•Plan, coordinate and perform
requirement captures, design concepting, detailed
worst case analog, digital circuit analysis, simulation, integration and
verification for projects broad and complex in scope.
•Serve as a regional or
international technical expert and as a primary contact between the enterprise
and international forums in the area of power electronics.
•Serve as a primary contact for
university, research organizations and consortia.
•Identify new technology
changes that can strategically impact Deere products and works with product
groups to apply these technologies into new products.
•Operate in a team environment
and may act as lead person or supervisor, providing technical leadership and
design solutions.

and system modeling (PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).
•Expertise in the use of test and
measurement equipment for electrical systems in high noise environments.
•Skilled in electromagnetics and
design practices for compliance with EMI standards, filter synthesis and
design.
•Skilled in probability analysis,
experiment design, wear out mechanisms, and failure modes.
•Understanding of industry
standards (IEC, UL, ISO, SAE) as related to electrical
systems design, functional safety, and components.
A strong candidate will have:
•Understanding of mechanical
vibrations, natural frequencies and vibration related design practices
(isolation, damping, etc.).
•Understanding of material
fatigue properties related to solder joints and power semiconductor devices.
•Understanding of material
properties related to insulation materials, insulation design, corona/partial
discharge, dielectric breakdown, structural materials, adhesives, conductor
materials, dielectric materials paints, and coatings.
