MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Three years of experience in
similar roles (electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical areas associated with
plastics injection molding equipment)
Bachelor’s Degree in
Engineering
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position relies on data
analysis and statistical process control methods to troubleshoot and improve
the manufacturing process.
Resource person to support
equipment in all phases of manufacturing operation to achieve proper and
efficient running conditions in support of defined manufacturing milestone
performance levels.
Operates equipment to test its
functioning and performance.
Analyzes production data for
appropriate problem solving and provides recommendations for performance
improvements. Decision-making exercised in areas authorized.
Investigate; identify areas for
improvement regarding specific process metrics.
Collaborates with quality and
manufacturing engineering organization to enhance equipment standardization and
performance.
Identifies substandard
equipment for upgrade potential.
Well-versed in both production
standards and quality standards & SOPs.
Awareness and compliance of all
EHS systems.
Meeting and exceeding
manufacturing expectations.
Works to close open action
items from Problem Solving A3’s to move problems on to the validation stage.
Supports and is involved in
daily management and problem solving becoming a coach to production and tech
team in problem solving.
Analyzes production data for
appropriate problem solving and provides recommendations for performance
improvements. Decision-making exercised in areas authorized.
Investigate; identify areas for
improvement regarding specific process metrics including changeover times and
scrap.
Collaborates with quality and
manufacturing engineering organization to enhance equipment standardization and
performance including SMED for changeover.
Utilizes SPC and process
management techniques to enhance existing processes, i.e. changeovers,
reliability, scrap reduction, speed improvements, quality, and process control
and process performance.
Works with Training department
to assist with the development and delivery of training to enhance changeover
skills for the technician population in both buildings.
Cope with unforeseen
situations, i.e., problems with process, machine speeds, reoccurring defects,
detection/correction of unsafe conditions, and detection/correction of
machinery problem issues.
Support all departments, i.e.,
production, engineering, tool room, warehouse, and EHS.
Operate equipment to test its
functioning and overall performance.
Assist in all projects. This
would include all aspects of a new project, i.e. placement, installation,
fabrication and assembly of all associated equipment that may come with any
project. This could also include working over and beyond a normal work
day when needed.
Be alert to and welcome new
learning opportunities. Always try to increase education/training.
Follow GMP rules.
Report oil, grease or water
leaks to supervisor or technicians.
Ensure line is clean and free
from dust accumulation.
Ensure leaks are properly
collected.
Report any conditions which
could compromise food safety.
Use only approved chemicals to
be used on the floor.
Do not put any item involved in
product realization on the floor.
Manage Critical Control Points
where applicable.
Report upset conditions.
Follow all procedures and SOP’s
for the facility i.e., LTTV, SOP’S, PPE, Fall protection, etc..
Be aware of hazardous materials
in the area and the proper handling of hazardous materials. Awareness will be
achieved through training, MSDS review, safety meetings, and toolbox meetings.
Be aware of, understand, and
follow emergency procedures.
Report all spills or other
environmental incidents following EHS protocol.
Must follow all rules and
comply with mandatory Job-Obs, IFE’s, IFO’s,
Walkabouts, Monday Reports, Quality training, monthly awareness training and any
required departmental training/projects on time without supervision.
Work in such a manner as to
prevent environmental incidents and if asked, to participate in investigations
of environmental incidents.
Enter data and provide
paperwork required.
Minimize waste and prevent
pollution to protect the environment.
Perform duties in an efficient
manner without damage to company equipment and furnishings.

EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a BS in
Mechanical, Electrical or, its equivalent in experience in plastic injection
molding.
This position requires mechanical
and technical skills.
High school diploma or equivalent
and technical background with the ability to develop skills in SPC techniques.
Ability to make decisions through
analysis of data, and computer utilization.
Five to seven years’ experience
from on-the-job training programs, and operation experience is considered best
entry into this position.
Ability to develop skills in SPC
techniques. The incumbent shall make decisions making through analyzing of data
and computer utilization.
Applicable skills are acquired by
taking courses in mechanical and technical subjects.
High degree of understanding
regarding the closure manufacturing process, and the use of tools, and devices
used to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
Must be conversant with
mechanical principles and technical data in order to troubleshoot equipment.
Must have a high level of
understanding, experience, and troubleshooting knowledge to visualize
arrangements and relationship to static or moving parts and assemblies
represented in blueprints and diagrams.
Must have an excellent
understanding of quality standards and process defects.
Must be able to adapt to
continuing changes in manufacturing process and product technology and requirements.
Must be willing to assume
responsibility for prescribed qualitative standards, machines and materials.
Must have excellent human
relations and communication skills for training others on manufacturing
process, technology and procedures.
Visual acuity and need for
attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of Injection
& Compression Molding process including closure processing parameters.
Broad knowledge of Molders,
auxiliary equipment, and raw materials used in the manufacturing process.
Must have understanding and
troubleshooting knowledge of closure manufacturing and support equipment, i.e.,
liners, assemblies, scorers, etc.
Teamwork, positive
communication with others, and team problem solving are required. Written
communication must follow CSI standards and values. This position
requires frequent verbal and written communication with all employees and
management at the facility. In some cases, the position may require
communication with equipment manufacturers or representatives.
The incumbent helps provide a
safe work place by assisting in developing, promoting and following practices
which prevent injury and meet legal safety requirements.
Follows all food safety
guidelines while on the manufacturing floor.
